Podcast Exercise

Write a script for a one-to-two minute podcast (roughly 150 to 200 words); explaining why learning Social & Business Communication is good. The audience is high school juniors and seniors. You can choose to craft a general message, something that would be useful to all prospective students, or you can focus on a specific academic discipline, or some other important aspect of your college experience.

Thy's story...

“ Everybody has the right to dream, no one taxes the dreams, so, free yourselves to dream. “ This is Thy's favorite quote. From a millionaire to a beggar, an employer to an employee, everybody has a different dream, aspiration, but similarities between everyone is that they are trying to make their desires, their ambitions come true. To her, she dreams to be an event manager. When Thy was young, she wish she could managed a preaching event to introduced about Jesus Christ’s love to others. She grew up in the Christian family, so that she had many opporturnities managing Christian event, program for kids, youth. In Vietnam, this field has not developed yet, that why she is trying to study more so that she could do the job she like. Even though she knows this major have its own difficulty, but she will try her best, she believes she can do it. Everything is possible for who believes.

Thy likes to be an event manager. When she thinks about one detail event, she is interested in concept development and designs, program writing, venue selection and booking to expense and benefit analysis. Since then, she decided to have a degree in Mass Communication. But she realized that it was going to be difficult because of her language. At the moment, she can understand more than she can speak, write. “ Most of the important thing in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all “. This phrase, said by Dale Carnegie was a famous American writer, lecturer. So Thy never gives up and always tries to do her best. She tries to read English book, listen to music, and make friend with foreigner and not so she could communicate effectively, and be professional in writing.

Beside to be a Christian event manager, Thy also wish she could planning weddings. She thinks that life is all about moments and someones wedding is one of the priceless moment. Not only create an event but also create life memories. She really likes to do the work requires creation, this is the field for her can makes every ideas she likes and bring happiness, joy to others.

Now she still have time to achieve her goal, she will try to improve her English, expand knowledge about her desire and seek experience through part-time jobs. She is very grateful to her family and her lecturers those who help her get to the future. She is very happy and satisfied with what she currently has.

Chronicles of Amin

Muhammad Al Amin was the name given to him by his parents. With Amin, what you see is what you get. A simple guy leading a simple stress free life. There are a few things you need to know about him:

• He loves to talk a lot even with strangers
  
• He loves being around people
• He loves socializing with a new crowd

That might be three of the reasons why he chooses to be a successful Motivational Speaker. One of the perks with being a public speaker that specializes in motivating people is that he gets to help a lot of people at the same time.

Becoming a psychologist might not be the best career choice for an up and coming motivational speaker due to the stereotype that psychologists are usually people who loves being by themselves and they are usually introverts. However, Amin thrives to break the stereotype and prove to everyone that being we can be as versatile as we want to be and that we should not always follow societal rules.

It's time for the world to see that an ambitious Malay boy from Malaysia can also be successful as the Donalds, Steves and Bills of the world. (Donald Trump, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates)

Tanita's Story

Tanita has always had an interest in anything related to Japanese.

Whether it is about the language, people, music or lifestyle.

This began when she started to watch Japanese dramas and listening to Japanese songs.

From there, she decided to learn Japanese on her own for a year before enrolling in a proper Japanese class. It has been 5 years since she began studying Japanese.

Tanita's goal is to master the Japanese language and to speak it fluently.

At the moment, Tanita can understand it more than she can speak it. She hopes that one day she can watch a Japanese drama without reading the subtitles or listen to a Japanese song and understand the meaning. She plans to go to Japan once she can speak it fluently so she is able to experience their culture and lifestyle.

Tanita hopes that one day she can be in a kimono just like her Japanese friend in the picture below.

Tanita is interested in their language because to her, it sounds polite and not as harsh if compared to others. It is easy to understand and the pronunciation is simple.

Tanita is also interested in their music because most of the singers that she likes acted in the Japanese dramas that she watched. Not only that, their music is different than some of the English songs she has listened to. However, this could be a bias perception.

Tanita aspires to be an English teacher in Japan.

She wants to teach in middle school or in high school. Therefore, Tanita looks up to her Japanese teacher currently because she is doing exactly what Tanita wants to do, only difference is she is teaching Japanese to English speaking students.

KHALEDA

Khaleda wants to work in the music and fashion scene. She grew up in a musical environment because her parents have been working in the music scene for a very long time. Khaleda’s mother is also famous for her fashion sense, which is how Khaleda got interested in fashion as both mother and daughter like to dress up and follow the latest fashion trends.

Khaleda stated that fashion is her passion and music is her expression. Both of them make her feel happy as they produce beautiful sounds and colours.

Although she can play the piano, loves to sing, dance and perform; Khaleda believes that Malaysia has many talents but not enough gifted people. Therefore, she would like to help this country to develop into having a successful music and fashion industries and be known throughout the world by being a Music Executive like Simon Cowell and a Fashion Director like Simon Doonan.

Khaleda feels that it is not enough to only have a profession in music and fashion. Therefore, she chose to have a degree in Psychology to combine with her passions to achieve her career. Being a Music Executive and a Fashion Director involves much psychological work that includes analysing and observing consumer behaviour, marketing, promoting and managing a company.

Khaleda wants to be highly respected by the people in the music and the fashion industries like Simon Cowell and Simon Doonan even though both individuals do not have musical and designing talent, both of them have a lot of knowledge in these industries and are very successful in what they do.

Khaleda has seen in her parents work in the music industry ever since she was born. While studying her degree in Psychology, she is also working in her father’s studio, following her mom to her performance shows and helping her mom with her wardrobe.

Khaleda has also performed by herself at many events and has been doing some photoshoots in a few fashion and social magazines.

When successful, Khaleda hopes that she will be invited to American award shows like the Grammys and meet with her favourite artists like Beyonce and Timbaland. She also hopes to get invited to Fashion shows in Europe and meet with many fashion icons in the future.

The Story about Iman

The Story

This is a story about Nurul Iman trying to achieve her goals by following her dream to become a psychologist.

'Serve The People'

She learnt from her family that she should always 'serve the people'. Her parents taught her well that she should not be selfish and spoilt to other people. She then started to help people who are in need.

The Solution

Therefore, she decided to become a psychologist. She wants to listen and understand people who are in need what they have been going through. She also wants to try to understand their problems and try to advise them as much as she can.

What Really Strikes Her

The story that triggered her mind is about the late Nurin Jazlin who was stated missing in August 2007 and found again in September that year. When she heard that the public blamed Nurin's parents for not taking care of her, she thought it was selfish of them to even think like that when their child was gone missing then. From there on, she realized that she needs to make sure that all children need to be safe at all times. She knows that people who are ignorant would not want to care about these children.

Her Goal

She wants to have a centre for her children from troubled homes. The children will have the freedom to feel belonged and safe in her hands. She also wants to help these children to not have any negative influence by other people. Also, the centre will be open 24 hours, since most of these children's parents have to work nightshifts. She wants to be able to provide protection for these children.

Introduction
